Create a Home Office
Posted in Uncategorized on October 26th, 2007Okay, now that you have created a legal business entity for your drifting pursuits and are working on building your vehicle, let’s look at another source of business expense tax deductions that you can consider: equipping a home office. If you really treat your drifting enterprise as a real business, you need a place to conduct business and work on your team.
For starters, your office can be located in your house; in your own bedroom if necessary. Start by putting together some Office Furniture and equipment so you can take care of business. At a minimum you should get yourself a the following:
A good desk – try to setup your desk area so you actually have room to do work. Clear away clutter and distractions. Make sure that you have decent light above your desk so you can read through your sponsorship proposals and contracts easily.
A comfortable chair – you need a good chair so that you can spend long hours working at your desk. A cheap chair will feel flimsy and cause fatigue.
A computer – Mac or PC, notebook or desktop, a personal computer is a must for the business owner. You’ll be able to manipulate photos, create your own website, send out emails, and write up proposals with the right computer. Choose wisely.
A wireless phone – even if you already have a wireless phone, as a business owner, business related expenses (including all or a portion of your phone bill) can now be tax deductible.
Well, those are the basics for your home office. Get the right equipment so you can get your business underway.
