Create a Home Office

Posted in Uncategorized on October 26th, 2007

Okay, now that you have created a legal business entity for your drifting pursuits and are working on building your vehicle, let’s look at another source of business expense tax deductions that you can consider: equipping a home office. If you really treat your drifting enterprise as a real business, you need a place to conduct business and work on your team.

For starters, your office can be located in your house; in your own bedroom if necessary. Start by putting together some Office Furniture and equipment so you can take care of business. At a minimum you should get yourself a the following:

A good desk – try to setup your desk area so you actually have room to do work. Clear away clutter and distractions. Make sure that you have decent light above your desk so you can read through your sponsorship proposals and contracts easily.

A comfortable chair – you need a good chair so that you can spend long hours working at your desk. A cheap chair will feel flimsy and cause fatigue.

A computer – Mac or PC, notebook or desktop, a personal computer is a must for the business owner. You’ll be able to manipulate photos, create your own website, send out emails, and write up proposals with the right computer. Choose wisely.

A wireless phone – even if you already have a wireless phone, as a business owner, business related expenses (including all or a portion of your phone bill) can now be tax deductible.

Well, those are the basics for your home office. Get the right equipment so you can get your business underway.

Starting Your Own Drift Team

Posted in Uncategorized on October 26th, 2007

For those of you who want to get serious about drifting here is something that you may want to consider: establishing yourself as a drifting team. Now you may think that there’s not much to starting a drifting “team” other than choosing a cool sounding team name, printing some decals to put on your car, and sporting some new tee shirts with your team name on them. However, I’m suggesting that you forming an actual business whose business is drifting and making money drifting.

In order to start a business as a drifting team, you need to set yourself up like any other legitimate business. Go to your city’s business action center or chamber of commerce and you can get some good information or pointers on how to set up your business. File with your city, state, and the federal government so that you can receive your tax identification numbers and business registration paperwork. Once you’re established as an actual business, you can start running your team as such.

When you’re established as an official business you can also use various tax benefits to your advantage. Once established, the first thing you should do is to purchase your drifting vehicle. Get an Auto Loan so you can afford your vehicle and make sure to start keeping good records of your expenses, starting with that vehicle purchase.

As a business, you hope to generate income by running a professional racing team. Even though it may take a while to get up to a level where you generate any money from drifting, the money you spend in pursuit of that goal (up to that point and beyond) is tax deductible. Money spent on purchasing your vehicle, getting your vehicle competition ready, advertising your team, and entering drifting events can be tax deductible (Make sure you check first with local, state, and federal laws to ensure what you’re deducting is legal).

Performance Tires for Drifting

Posted in Uncategorized on October 12th, 2007

If you’re going to be drifting, there’s one things that can make the difference between a good or bad performance… actually make that four things, your tires. Most people starting out with drifting go with tires that are either cheap or free. Reason being is that they still have to work out their skills and are not sure if they should be making large financial commitments to a sport that they’re just trying out.

Although using discarded tires from used tire bins have been used by many drifters, there comes a point in time where better parts, accessories, and equipment are necessary to progress. The downside of using mix-matched tires is that there is less consistency. The key to a great many sports in the world is to be consistent. Golfers, bowlers, archers, weightlifters all attempt to have consistency in their performances and one of the ways they achieve that is through consistency in their equipment.

Imagine a golfer switching golf club brands on each hole or a weightlifter that uses a different stance and grip every time he lifts a weight. The results probably wouldn’t be too consistent right? It’s not much different in the drifting world, get yourself some good tires and try to change them consistently. If you need to make changes to your Tires, just make one change at a time so that you don’t have too many new variables in your formula.

Start Tattooing

Posted in Uncategorized on October 10th, 2007

These days it seems like just about everyone out there is sporting a tattoo… or two… or ten. Unlike back in the 1950’s, tattoos have become commonplace in American society. Men and women of all ages can be found with various forms of skin art displaying something about their personality, their history, or their interests.

Tattoos date back hundreds of years and have been primarily used for decorative body modification but also for identification and branding, particularly in the cases of societal rejects and criminals. The process of tattooing typically involves the use of a needle or other sharpened instrument to inject colored ink deep into a person’s skin, resulting in permanent pigmentation.

The most typical method for tattooing today is through the use of the tattoo machine. The tattoo machine is an electric device that resembles a pen with a small motor attached. Electricity is used to activate the small motor which then moves a needle or set of needles in an in-and-out motion. The needles on the tattoo machine are dipped in ink, the motor is activated, and then the needles are inserted into a person’s skin at a high rate of speed; thus efficiently injecting the ink into the person’s skin.

For those of you wanting to get started in tattooing, it’ best to begin learning under the tutelage of an experienced and licensed tattoo artist. As you learn the art of tattooing, you will develop your artwork and learn how to handle tattoo equipment and how to perform tattoos safely. When you’re ready to purchase your own tattoo equipment, try beginning with a Starter Tattoo Kit. Good luck!

Bring You the Flat World

Posted in Uncategorized on October 3rd, 2007

Bring You the Flat World is a blog site designed to assist people with affiliate advertising programs and other ways to make money on the internet. The blog is populated by numerous people who have an knowledge of the internet and the opportunities presented in the internet age.

For those of you who have no idea on how to make money on the internet, here’s a brief primer. Even for your average person with limited computer knowledge, it’s possible to conduct business on the internet. The internet is the new marketplace where lots of new ideas, promotions, and opportunities are developing each day. Even without an actual product to sell, there are opportunities for you out there. Intellectual property such as essays, photographs, and artwork can all be traded on the internet, and if you’d like to sell products without opening your own store, affiliate programs exist so that you can help other companies sell their products while making yourself a nice commission at the same time.

Since this blog talks mainly about affiliate marketing, here are some basics. Affiliate programs are typically (but not always) for people who have their own websites or blogs. When you become an affiliate of a company, you are agreeing to help them market their product on your website. If a reader of your website clicks on a link you’ve placed, goes to your affiliate partner’s website, and purchases a product or service, your assistance to that transaction is tracked and you get a credit from the company. It’s that simple.

Now, before you jump into the market, I suggest that you do your research first. Find out what kind of website you should develop, or if you already have a website, find out what affiliate programs would work best with your audience. Read blogs like Bring You the Flat World by Kyle Lauderdale and be on your way to generating income on the internet. Good luck!

NFL Halloween Costumes

Posted in Uncategorized on October 3rd, 2007

It’s that time of year again, and Halloween is just around the corner. This year, Halloween falls on a Wednesday, so it’s not as great as having Halloween on a weekend, but it’ll have to do until 2008, when Halloween falls on a Friday again.

For those of you that don’t know much about Halloween, it is a pagan tradition that started in Ireland originally called Samhain. The current term Halloween is derived from the term “All Hallows Eve” the evening before All Hallows Day or All Saints Day.

The significance of Halloween is that it is supposedly one of the few times per year that spirits can make contact with the living. Halloween is also a day in which magic is supposedly most powerful for people who practice witchcraft and sorcery.

As time went on and immigrants came to America, they brought their traditions of Halloween with them. It is not clearly known where today’s modern Halloween traditions started, but mass-produced Halloween costumes became present in the 1930’s and trick-or-treating appeared mainstream by the 1950’s. Since then, Halloween has become one of America’s major holidays celebrated by all types of people through home decoration, costumes, partying, and trick-or-treating.

Halloween has seemed to step away from its more sinister background as it becomes more and more popular in the western world. As such, a wide variety of Halloween Costumes and disguises have become commercially available. So get out there and get yourself a costume. Halloween only comes once a year!
